Checkerboard Squares knit blanket knitting pattern; geometric super bulky knitting pattern

The beautiful checkerboard squares blanket was so fun to design! I wanted to design a blanket for my husband with his input. He's an engineer, so I knew we'd want a simple look with strong lines. We experimented with a few different versions of squares and checkerboarding before settling on this final version.

While it can look like a complex pattern, if you can knit and purl (and count!), you can make this blanket.
The dense stitching of this blanket makes it extra warm and cozy! It is the warmest blanket in our house! A bit oversized, this blanket was designed to be able to cover from head to shoulders. It is wonderful for curling up under on a bitter cold winter night! Turn the blanket horizontally and it's perfect for two (or more) to curl up under while watching a movie.

The beautiful design and textures will be be a beautiful addition to any room. Using chunky yarn and large needles this blanket works up quickly for it's size. The project is for an advanced beginner who wants to challenge themselves or an experienced knitter wanting to create a beautiful design with lots of texture. If you can knit and purl you can create this blanket as a thoughtful Christmas gift or a gift to yourself!

Materials needed for this project:
• Size US15 (10mm) 48” circular needles
• 17 skeins Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick solid (I used Charcoal), it never hurts to
have extra.
• Tapestry needle to weave in ends.
• Scissors
• Stitch markers (several)

Gauge: Not important for this project
Size: approx. 54” w x 70” l
